Limitations to know
- L/100 km is “lower is better” while km/L and mpg are “higher is better”, so the relationship is inverse, not proportional.
- Zero cannot be converted between these scales.
- Results are shown to up to 10 significant digits; extremely large or small values switch to scientific notation (e.g. 1.5e-12).

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert mpg to L/100 km?
For US mpg, divide 235.215 by the mpg value. For example, 235.215 ÷ 30 = 7.84 L/100 km.
Why do US and UK mpg figures differ?
An imperial gallon (4.546 L) is about 20% larger than a US gallon (3.785 L), so the same car shows a higher mpg figure in the UK.
